The input parameter passed in register x1 is not validated well enough in the function sdei_interrupt_bind. The parameter is passed to a call to plat_ic_get_interrupt_type. It can be any arbitrary value passing checks in the function plat_ic_is_sgi. A compromised Normal World (Linux kernel) can enable a root-privileged attacker to issue arbitrary SMC calls. Using this primitive, he can control the content of registers x0 through x6, which are used to send parameters to TF-A. Out-of-bounds addresses can be read in the context of TF-A (EL3). Because the read value is never returned to non-secure memory or in registers, no leak is possible. An attacker can still crash TF-A, however."}],"affected":[{"vendor":"n/a","product":"n/a","versions":[{"version":"n/a","status":"affected"}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/ARM-software/arm-trusted-firmware/blob/a05414bedc9b1cc35cf0795ce641b6b4db5bc97e/services/std_svc/sdei/sdei_main.c#L708"},{"url":"https://github.com/ARM-software/arm-trusted-firmware/blob/a05414bedc9b1cc35cf0795ce641b6b4db5bc97e/services/std_svc/sdei/sdei_main.c#L714"},{"url":"https://trustedfirmware-a.readthedocs.io/en/latest/security_advisories/security-advisory-tfv-11.html"}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"type":"text","lang":"en","description":"n/a"}]}]},"adp":[{"providerMetadata":{"orgId":"af854a3a-2127-422b-91ae-364da2661108","shortName":"CVE","dateUpdated":"2024-08-02T21:46:29.104Z"},"title":"CVE Program Container","references":[{"url":"https://github.com/ARM-software/arm-trusted-firmware/blob/a05414bedc9b1cc35cf0795ce641b6b4db5bc97e/services/std_svc/sdei/sdei_main.c#L708","tags":["x_transferred"]},{"url":"https://github.com/ARM-software/arm-trusted-firmware/blob/a05414bedc9b1cc35cf0795ce641b6b4db5bc97e/services/std_svc/sdei/sdei_main.c#L714","tags":["x_transferred"]},{"url":"https://trustedfirmware-a.readthedocs.io/en/latest/security_advisories/security-advisory-tfv-11.html","tags":["x_transferred"]}]},{"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"type":"CWE","cweId":"CWE-125","lang":"en","description":"CWE-125 Out-of-bounds Read"}]}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"scope":"UNCHANGED","version":"3.1","baseScore":4.4,"attackVector":"LOCAL","baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","integrityImpact":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","attackComplexity":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"HIGH","confidentialityImpact":"NONE"}},{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2024-09-04T18:25:46.364050Z","id":"CVE-2023-49100","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2024-10-31T20:03:10.259Z"}}]}}
