This is due to the plugin unconditionally removing the `wp_kses_data` output filter for term_description, link_description, link_notes, and user_description fields without checking user capabilities. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in category descriptions that will execute whenever a user accesses a page where the category description is displayed. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled."}],"title":"Allow HTML in Category Descriptions <= 1.2.4 - Authenticated (Administrator+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Category Descriptions","references":[{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/b63c9a5a-fa3e-46c7-9d9c-7c209fc5713a?source=cve"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/allow-html-in-category-descriptions/trunk/html-in-category-descriptions.php#L23"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/allow-html-in-category-descriptions/tags/1.2.4/html-in-category-descriptions.php#L23"}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","description":"CWE-79 Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')","cweId":"CWE-79","type":"CWE"}]}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","baseScore":4.4,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM"}}],"credits":[{"lang":"en","type":"finder","value":"ZAST.AI"}],"timeline":[{"time":"2026-02-13T18:18:44.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Disclosed"}]},"adp":[{"metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2026-02-17T15:36:35.505807Z","id":"CVE-2026-0693","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2026-02-17T15:46:05.532Z"}}]}}
