This is due to the `UpdateProviderCommandHandler` failing to validate changes to the `externalId` field when a Provider (Employee) user updates their own profile. The `externalId` maps directly to a WordPress user ID and is passed to `wp_set_password()` and `wp_update_user()` without authorization checks. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Provider-level (Employee) access and above, to take over any WordPress account — including Administrator — by injecting an arbitrary `externalId` value when updating their own provider profile."}],"title":"Amelia <= 2.1.3 - Insecure Direct Object Reference to Authenticated (Employee+) Privilege Escalation via 'externalId' Parameter","references":[{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/a4204099-1065-4167-8b42-3da25945236c?source=cve"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/ameliabooking/tags/2.1.3/src/Application/Controller/User/Provider/UpdateProviderController.php#L30"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/ameliabooking/tags/2.1.3/src/Application/Commands/User/Provider/UpdateProviderCommandHandler.php#L146"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/ameliabooking/tags/2.1.3/src/Application/Commands/User/Provider/UpdateProviderCommandHandler.php#L219"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/ameliabooking/tags/2.1.3/src/Application/Commands/User/Provider/UpdateProviderCommandHandler.php#L239"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3499608/ameliabooking/trunk/src/Application/Commands/User/Provider/UpdateProviderCommandHandler.php"}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","description":"CWE-639 Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key","cweId":"CWE-639","type":"CWE"}]}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":8.8,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"}}],"credits":[{"lang":"en","type":"finder","value":"Osvaldo Noe Gonzalez Del Rio"}],"timeline":[{"time":"2026-04-03T06:43:39.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Vendor Notified"},{"time":"2026-04-06T18:13:11.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Disclosed"}]},"adp":[{"metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2026-04-07T13:13:09.198377Z","id":"CVE-2026-5465","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"total"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2026-04-07T13:13:24.738Z"}}]}}
