This is due to the askeet_is_safe_query() filter being bypassable using MySQL conditional comments (e.g., /*!UNION*/). The filter strips regular block comments before checking for forbidden SQL keywords, but MySQL interprets conditional comments as executable code. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database."}],"title":"Askeet <= 3.0 - Authenticated (Administrator+) SQL Injection via 'sql_query' Parameter","references":[{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/b95af878-f324-44ae-a4bf-0c1e994bb3c1?source=cve"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/askeet/trunk/askeet.php#L767"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/askeet/tags/2.5/askeet.php#L767"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/askeet/tags/2.5/askeet.php#L563"},{"url":"https://wordpress.org/plugins/askeet/"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?new=3525593%40askeet%2Ftrunk&old=3521172%40askeet%2Ftrunk"}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","description":"CWE-89 Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')","cweId":"CWE-89","type":"CWE"}]}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","baseScore":4.9,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM"}}],"credits":[{"lang":"en","type":"finder","value":"Régis SENET"}],"timeline":[{"time":"2026-08-04T17:49:48.000Z","lang":"en","value":"Disclosed"}]},"adp":[{"metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2026-08-05T14:15:36.662082Z","id":"CVE-2026-5651","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T14:15:49.483Z"}}]}}
